Andy & Leanne’s intimate Chewton Glen Treehouse wedding
On January 5th I shot my first wedding of 2017. It was Andy & Leanne’s beautiful, intimate Chewton Glen Treehouse wedding.
I’ve known Leanne for a few years now as she is good friend’s with my sister and so we often see each other at my sister’s girly get togethers. Leanne is such a lovely, fun girl and I was honoured when she asked me if I would be her wedding photographer last year. I was also really excited when I found out that the wedding was going to be in a treehouse! Andy & Leanne chose to have a very intimate wedding with just their immediate family in attendance, so 8 guests in total. This meant for a very special day and a lovely family gathering, especially as Leanne’s brother, Austin emigrated to New Zealand about 10 years ago so she hadn’t seen him in all that time!
I started the day at Leanne & Andy’s flat where it was just Leanne and her mum getting ready, so was very calm and chilled, which was lovely. Then when they’d finished their hair and make up and I’d captured all the pretty little details lie the dress, jewellery, shoes & garter etc, I headed to The Chewton glen to get a couple of shots of Andy before the ceremony and set the scene for where the wedding was taking place. I then continued to photograph the ceremony and celebrations afterwards, whilst they all had a little catch up and a dance to the music, as well as some beautiful couple portraits just as the sun was setting and the day turned to dusk.
Then we were all chauffeured to the wedding breakfast inside the hotel by some cool golf buggy/mini bus hybrid vehicles.
I had a great time photographing this beautiful, wedding and I really felt part of their day as the two families were so lovely and welcoming. It was so lovely to be so heavily involved in such an intimate family event, and even though I’m used to photographing weddings with much more guests, it still felt like I wasn’t being intrusive with the photography as they were all just enjoying themselves and forgetting that there was a camera nearby.
I know it’s been a few months now but congratulations again Mr & Mrs Hawkesworth, it was an absolute pleasure and an honour to photograph your special day!

The Chewton Glen is a beautiful venue for weddings, located in New Milton, New Forest. They also do great afternoon tea and spa days, which I have been lucky enough to have experienced, funnily enough Leanne was also there as it was for my sister’s 30th birthday.
